PE Welding

PE Welding equipment

Hadlee and Brunton have qualified PE welders who carry out both butt and electrofusion welds.

We have two butt welding machines and one electrofusion machine. Our largest Butt Welder will weld pipe from 315mm diameter up to 600mm diameter. It is set up in a shipping container complete with gantry crane to enable all weather welding. This is delivered to site on our HIAB truck and powered using our truck mounted 80 KVA gen set which is housed in a noise suppressed body.

Our smaller Butt Welder will weld pipe up to 90mm diameter to 315mm diameter. It is set up on a crane truck and can be lifted into position complete with a fully enclosed cover to enable welding in whatever weather.

Our final welder is for electrofusion joints it is a small portable unit and works on the standard bar coding system.

Location Equipment

We operate the two leading location equipment brands available in the drilling market the Digitrak system and the Subsite system. These take care of 95% of our shots which are no greater than 29 metres deep. For shots deeper than this we employ specialist engineers to track the shot using a wire line system. Our critical grade shots are surveyed and located by our in house surveyor so unlike most drilling companies you do not have the expense or time delays of having an independent surveying firm setting out the shot.

Fluid Management

Fluid management and technology can account for up to 60% of a successful drill shot. Our company has four large mud mixing units and our staff regularly attend fluid management schools run by overseas experts. We design our shots using specialist engineers from the States and Australia. Our four mud mixing units are all truck mounted to allow continuous mixing on site.

Sterling Curtain Sider - FM50 Mud Mixing Unit

Curtain Sider - FM50 Mud Mixing Unit

The Dichwitch FM50 unit is a high-volume, high-efficiency unit with each of the FM50's two 1000-gallon (3785 L) mixing tanks having its own pump, making it easy to deliver drilling fluid to the drills. The FM50 has an isolated gen set which is quiet enough (only 100 dbA) to work in noise-sensitive areas. The mixing system yields up to 16 bags/2000 gal (7570 L) in less than 8 minutes. This unit is set up in a curtain sider that transports all our muds and polymers keeping the whole operation under cover meaning we can work in any weather.

Mercedes Transporter / mobile workshop / FM13V mud mixing rig.

This rig transports our three smaller drills and has two 500 gallon mixing tanks powered by the FM13V mixing unit. It also has a mobile workshop.

Nissan mud mixing units

These trucks are also powered by FM13V mixing units and have three mixing tanks on board capable of holding 1500 gallons of fluid.

Service Location

Service Location

One of the biggest downfalls for a lot of drilling companies is poor planning and service location. The expense of hitting a fibre optic cable or watermain for example can be astronomical. Hadlee and Brunton have the equipment to locate and expose all at risk services prior to starting any drilling. We can track most underground services providing the customer with both the location and depth of unknown services such as:

  • Sewer and Stormwater Drains
  • Water Pipes
  • Telecom Cables
  • Electrical Cables

Any services which will be in the drill path will be exposed using our FX60 unit detailed below. Taking the time at the start of the project to carry accurate service identification work saves everybody time and money in the long run.

3222 DitchWitch FX60 Vacuum jetting and excavation rig

This unit keeps the drill site clean and tidy with both high pressure vacuum and jetting facilities. It is also used for service location prior to drilling with it being able to carry out pot hole inspections of existing services in any ground conditions in minutes causing no mess very little reinstatement. It simply cuts a hole approx 100mm dia with high pressure jets and sucks away the mess at the same time.

Vacuum and Waterblasting Units

We have five vacuum trucks including three super suckers with up to 9000 litre capacity and three truck mounted water blasting units. These are used to keep the site clean at all times and used to clean out the product that we have installed if required.

Crane Units

To add or remove hundreds of metres of rod at a time is no more than a 5 minute job with interchanging cassettes. The JT100 has it own built in crane unit and our two truck mounted Palfinger cranes transport and load additional drilling rods for longer shots on our smaller drills.
